Registration is now open for the 5th National Black Canadians Summit (NBCS), taking place from September 18–20, 2026, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Under the theme “Moving Forward Together,” the summit will bring together Black leaders, entrepreneurs, youth, academics, artists, policymakers, community advocates, and allies from across Canada for three days of dialogue, connection, learning, and collective action.
Moving Forward Together
The theme of this year’s summit reflects a shared commitment to advancing progress and confronting racial discrimination. Across Canada, Black communities continue to work toward addressing systemic barriers and creating greater opportunities for equity, inclusion, and justice.
The summit provides an opportunity for communities to come together, share experiences, strengthen relationships, and build lasting alliances. It also recognizes the importance of solidarity with other racialized communities in the ongoing work to address systemic racism.
Creating Space for Dialogue and Action
The National Black Canadians Summit is more than a conference. It is a national platform where lived experience, research, culture, and policy come together.
Over three days, participants will have opportunities to engage in keynote conversations, workshops, artistic performances, and community gatherings. These activities are designed to encourage meaningful conversations, inspire new ideas, and support collective approaches to the challenges facing Black communities across Canada.
At the heart of the summit is the belief that community voices should remain central to shaping Canada’s future.
Recognizing Indigenous Leadership
The 2026 summit also emphasizes the importance of meaningful dialogue with First Nations and recognition of Indigenous leadership.
The organizers acknowledge the ongoing effects of colonization and systemic racism experienced by Indigenous communities and seek to create opportunities for dialogue and collaboration. This reflects a broader commitment to building relationships and working toward justice alongside communities facing persistent systemic barriers.
Building Resilience and Moving Toward Justice
Moving forward together also means creating pathways toward healing, resilience, and self-determination.
For Black communities, addressing racial discrimination requires not only confronting systemic barriers but also strengthening collective capacity, supporting one another, and building on the resilience and achievements of generations past.
The National Black Canadians Summit offers a space to celebrate that history while looking toward the work that remains ahead.

The 2026 summit will take place in Winnipeg, Manitoba, giving participants an opportunity to experience a city rich in history, culture, and important conversations about human rights and social justice.
Attendees can explore sites such as the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and The Forks, while connecting with fellow participants from across the country.
