FBEC General Assembly – November 29, 2019

About the Event

On November 29, 2019, the Federal Black Employee Caucus (FBEC-CEFN) hosted a national general meeting that brought together Black public servants, allies, unions, and representatives from federal departments across Canada. More than 60 groups and participants joined the discussion virtually to address issues impacting Black employees in the federal public service.

During the meeting, FBEC shared updates on its ongoing advocacy efforts, including discussions with senior government leaders on anti-Black racism, workplace inclusion, mental health, and the importance of collecting disaggregated employment equity data.

The meeting also highlighted collaboration with workplace unions, the launch of FBEC’s self-identification campaign, and plans for the upcoming 2020 Annual Meeting focused on self-advocacy, career progression, and anti-oppression education.

FBEC continues to strengthen its national network and advocate for meaningful change, representation, and inclusion for Black employees across Canada’s federal public service.
